Morey To Governor Malloy On Route 7 Closure: We Deserve Better
I, like a lot of other New Milford residents, have been watching the water recede on Route 7 while we detour through a residential neighborhood trying get to a local business. I noticed that by Sunday morning the water had mostly receded on Route 7. Yes, there was lots of mud to be cleaned up. This morning I stood in front of Robert's Auto Repair at 8 a.m. and, looking up and down Route 7, I couldn't see a single DOT crew ready to go to work. In my mind, the Governor owes it to the residents of New Milford to explain why we didn't deserve to have Route 7 opened in a timely manner. I'll bet that the amount the taxpayer's spent on police coverage to detour traffic and man the road blocks exceeded the cost of having the DOT on overtime to clean up the mud. I guess we in New Milford just don't matter nor do the taxpaying businesses along Route 7. I'd like to know if anyone else is as mad as I am about this fiasco? I don't want to hear from some representative from DOT;  I want an explanation from the Governor why we don't deserve better.
