Read today the town has hired a new economic development guy. Doesn't seem as if he has any experience. I wish him the best of luck - but what gives? Seems like a lot of money to pay someone with no experience who has a lot to learn. I am aware of at least 2 very qualified people who applied. How was this decision made? what were the criteria? I think the mayor has set him up for failure - our money could be spent in better ways.
Economic Development Supervisor at Town of New Milford Special Legislative Assistant at Connecticut General Assembly Vice President at Heritage Recruiting Group, LLC
Executive Director at Meriden Business & Learing Center
Vin Nolan had lots of connections. Does this guy have a network or connection of people he knows that would be helpful in his job? What were the reasons for hiring him? I am a bit confused. Why was he "the one"???? I would like the mayor to answer. I believe the article said he was an accountant. Seems to me that perhaps he applied for the comptroller job and Allie got confused and had him interview for the wrong position.
heh, heh, heh....i think the mayor was also looking for someone who would do things her way without questioning. she really doesn't care for smart people with ideas.
I heard the EDC didn't even get a chance to review or interview any of the candidates to give the mayor input. Seems a very arrogant move on the part of the mayor. Let's hope the new guy has a super personality to go with the lack of experience, lack of knowledge of our town or state and its regulatory challenges and lack of a network of connections.
Let me see if I can grasp your complaint. You think that the edc should have been part of the search process and should have had a chance to have a look at the new hire before he was picked. A bunch of fools who accomplish nothing and caused Vin a whole lot of trouble? I'M HAPPY THEY DIDN'T GET IN THE WAY. The Mayor has an excellent track record of hires. LOOK AT THE CHIEF as an example. He's ACES! Anyway, I would bet that Frank Wargo was in on it at some point.
oh yeah...she hired a great town engineer.... good job there, mayor. oh, and what a wonderful choice for personnel director. lots of good experience with those two! How's that working out? and not everyone thinks the new chief is "aces".
time will tell how christopher will work out. i hope he does well, but i find the mayor's arrogance in this process to be disturbing.
Are you kidding? Paul HATES the Town Engineer. He'll do ANYTHING to get rid of him even commit to strange political alliances. When he wrote "oh yeah...she hired a great town engineer" he was being SARCASTIC. Get it?

The roads look great tonight.
But, who ordered snow?
John Rowland and Jody Rell?
is that what they're up to nowadays?
That's a good one! Funny!
Why is the recycling center not open on Monday's?
It should be.
The Center is closed on Mondays because the work week for the Teamsters who work there is Tuesday through Saturday.
If the contract says...
Is it an option?
is what an option?
To be open on Mondays? No not an option. You get Sat. or Mon. not both and 99.9999% of the people that use on Sat. want it to stay that way!
Richard Munch
Sure it can open on Mondays. With different DPW workers. But Mr. Munch is right. Saturday is the Center's busiest day.

Why no post ont he town hall brawl?
There was no Town Hall brawl. Just a disgruntled, insubordinate employee. You read in the paper all there was to it.
Why can't the center be open Monday thru Saturday?

lol... this town is famous for hiring people that have no experience or knowledge. I wish who ever it is the best though.
The buck stops at the Mayor either way.
You can't have experience without being an insider.
You can't get experience without being hired.
Are they smart and motivated?
Smart and motivated people are good to hire.
If "Smart and motivated people are good to hire" then why do we keep hiring the Mayor every two years?

Ahhh, Paul Semanski speaks!
Let me see if I understand what you are saying. Paul likes our town engineer?
Are you kidding? Paul HATES the Town Engineer. He'll do ANYTHING to get rid of him even commit to strange political alliances. When he wrote "oh yeah...she hired a great town engineer" he was being SARCASTIC. Get it?
I THINK THE NEW CHIEF IS GREAT. HE WAS SADDLED WITH MANY HEADACHES. HE HAS MADE INCREDIBLE PROGRESS.
Sorry, the Mayor is in charge of all hires. Sorry, the Economic Development Director doesn't work for the EDC.
Why are you sorry? Are you apologizing? Should we question the mayor's judgement? Do you also have questions surrounding the mayor's hires?
I was being sarcastic, just like you, Paul.
