9 For 9

Here's a great idea.

Swap BOE Members with Town Council Members for a while.

See if Ray O'Brien tolerates getting critical budget data on the night that he is expected to vote on it. See if Parliamentarian Roger Szendy allows blatant violations of Roberts Rules. See if John Lillis finds supporting documents acceptable.

Give it a try!

And then there's Mary Jane Lundgren....She'll fit right in.....

I'd like to see if Lillis could manage to stay awake.

We all knew that with the small increases of the last few years, we had been stealing from Paul to pay Peter.

This will be a tough budget year with increases that should have been spread out over the last few years.

We have taken surplus and used it to keep the tax rate down especially in mayoral election years. It had to catch up with us.

And let us remember that so much of the school budget has mandated increases.

I would welcome trading 9 for 9 for a few months. Maybe the Council would finally move at a faster pace in getting things done. And the Board of Ed Meetings would get even harder to watch with the nine Council members using their great micro-management skills.

Micro Management? You have got to be kidding! When a person works for the town 32 years and they just find out that he was paid $20,000 less than he should have been how will they manage any differently. Ray would talk for three hours and not make a point; John would just take up space; MaryJane would want everything; Pete can't understand why a position should be increased so I guess he doesn't even listen etc.
etc etc.
They're all just politicians and dead weight.
Maybe a few of us should cut the budget for them. Give them a bottom line and say deal with it -
We used the surplus the last few years because we coulded afford the taxes as presented. Listen:
THE TAXES ARE GOING TO BE TO HIGH!
