Ray Jankowski Finds 220K For BOE

So the Town's CFO, Director of Finance Ray Jankowski (the "Town Side") finds a way to reduce the BOE Budget by 220K. What else would he be able to find if he was allowed the opportunity to examine the BOE books?

Why are there two separate finance departments?

The same reason that there is
Two facilities maintenance departments.
Two IT departments.
Two purchasing departments.

It would take more than a majority of lemmings to propose and see a change in SOP through. The Administration has no interest and the Town Council and BOE seem not to care.

Umm, doesn't anyone RTFA?

1) 2 teachers announced their intent to retire after the budget presentation

2)"the town's finance director informed her that projected increases for medical insurance, liability and property insurance, and worker's compensation would not increase as much as anticipated, allowing another budget reduction of more than $220,000"

No one found anything, there are adjustments after the fact. Something that happens in any budget process (private companies or otherwise) but you people wouldn't know that would you?

But being uninformed never stopped you before

the budget referendum questions should read:

"Should the BOE be allowed to spend $xxxx, as allocated by the taxpayers?"

This way, any cost savings AFTER THE FACT would need to go back to the taxpayers.

"No one found anything, there are adjustments after the fact. Something that happens in any budget process (private companies or otherwise) but you people wouldn't know that would you?"

Then I ask: shouldn't this all have been on the table when the budget request was formulated?

Does anyone remember the $2MM the BOE found in insurance savings AFTER THE BUDGET PASSED?

I sure as hell do!

Everytime the mayor "claims" to want to share efficiency with the BOE (like last election cycle), she then "cancels the meeting." That's right - the Mayor cancels the meeting. Further, the Mayor never reschedules the meeting.

It seems the "town side" is the obstacle, not the BOE.

Yes the School budget is blouted. I will not vote for it.

I think the Town Council is part of the blame for all the programs they have passed during the last few years. All good programs taken one at a time but looked at as a package it has been huge. The Senior program was not thought out long enough. I know someone on this program who make more than the working class taxpayer and have a lot more in the bank than I'll ever have.

The Volunteer program is wonderful but has it served the purpose of the Town Council voting it in? If I remember correctly it was to help get more volunteers. Have they joined? We were allowed to give up to $1000. A lot of Towns opted for increase's up to the Total of $1000 off taxes. Our Town Council just gave all.

We could give up to $10000 off assessment from the Town for veterans on low income. Seniors? Our Town Council started at the top and gave them the whole amount.

Ray your really an asset.

It has been commonn knowledge since the beginning of this school year that Mr Frey, the gym teacher at Hill and Plain would be retiring after this year. If I allready knew about it, you can believe she did too. What else does Paddyfoot have hiding up her sleeve? There's no way she just found out about it after the budget was written.

Jay - you are telling "half truths" again. Jankowski didn't "find" an hidden money for the BOE - he got a lower workers comp bid for both the town & BOE. This was communicated after the BOE budget hearings. If anyone doubts it, they can Mr. Jankowski directly.

Are your "pants on fire" Jay?
