From Public Works: Town Wide Brush Removal

"Town Wide Storm Related Brush removal will begin on Saturday November 12th. Residents on Town roads should place their brush ASAP within the right of way- DO NOT obstruct any emergency structures or sight lines. The contractor will make two separate sweeps of the Town beginning on November 12th and the second pick up will be finished by the beginning of December. The objective is to have the debris removed ASAP before the another snow falls. We can not give out details as to when your road will be done. The public area of the Century Enterprise Center that has been open for brush drop off will close on Thursday November 10th at 4:30pm so the contractor can begin work."

Just want to say thank you to our Mayor and our Public Works Dept. They did an outstanding job
getting us through this past storm.

New Milford was so much better than other towns.
Thank you.

They did a shitty job in our area of town up north. Glad to see even though people on private roads pay taxes the towns will not chip their brush. They don't deserve it cause they always seem to be stuck up.

I give the Town an average grade.

I spent 2 hours Sunday cutting branches off large limbs blocking a travel lane (9 days after the storm) just to help out those in my neighborhood. These limbs were in front of a vacant lot on Stephanie drive.

The Town should've done it several days sooner.

Also, is there any program available to reimburse those who hired private contractors to remove downed limbs from their property? I could have done it myself and brought them out to the road had I known the Town was going to step up.

I hope they can't give out details because they haven't made the schedule yet not because they are hiding it.

It never ceases to amaze me how some people can find the NEGATIVE in anything. Really our public works guys were out there 70 hours a week. I have no idea how much time the Mayor spent but I am sure it was a very long week.
As far as the brush removal most would say thank you for helping us out getting rid of the stuff. I wish all I had was a few limbs to remove but that is not the case. Thanks again, Mayor and public works I think you did an outstanding job.

is there any limit to how large the branches can be? some are ginormous.

Private roads are not maintained by the Town. Location, Location, Location. Know what the area is that your deciding to live in and you will not have issues. The towns website is full of information. If you own property its your responsibility not the towns to clean it up. I am thankful for the curbside service.

Me, too. I think it's great.

I think it is very nice of the town to do this(keep in mind that we ultimately will be paying for it!), but no one is mentioning how big the brush can be. Can i put out tree limbs that are 4" in diamter and 25' long with lots of branches off of them? Has anyone thought about the logistics of doing this? And don't forget those public works guys who were working 70 hours per week were getting time and a half - so they are pretty happy guys right now. Again, we are paying for this.

Why am I paying to clean up your mess?!?! That's ridiculous.

Wait a minute, George Buckbee got 100 more votes than Pat Murphy. He should be Mayor, seems voters trust him more.

it's going to be paid for with the federal disaster aid that's coming our way

I'm looking for reimbursement for what I spent on cleanup

and where does the money for federal disaster relief come from?? we the taxpayers.

Is your assumption that people:
a) have a pick-up and can haul it on their own?
b) have their own landscaper and have them haul it away?
c) are republicans, but will get a free government handout?
d) do you really think your local taxes are impacted by FEMA giving the town money to pay for this?
e) people can't afford a landscaper or the money to haul it away to NM Farms
f) this is going to cost the town million
g) it wasn't a disaster,

This is that rainy day you are supposed to be saving for.

The town clerk got more votes than the mayor?!?!?! Looks like her support base is still eroding. Not surprising.

Your ignorance is astounding.

Wait until the first complaint comes that the town ruined someones yard.
