There is absolutely no question whatsoever that our Green is beautiful. But let's calm down a bit about the Atrium and put it into perspective (no pun intended). Some beautiful structures line the Green's East Side but the pictures that follow show a swath of ill-fitting, non-New England structures on the West Side. In fact, there are only three buildings on the West Side that have any charm or historical meaning: the building that houses Tivoli, the Bank building and the Cramer and Anderson property. Remember that a huge fire destroyed most of the West side long ago. Have a look at the other properties and tell me that they're what you have in mind when you think of the Green:

All owners/business owners, and residents should be in the business of marketing New Milford not just the EDC or the Town.
A rising tide lifts all ships.
Except for when the Housatonic floods those businesses.
Our time and effort and money should be spent enhancing the town not arguing over sign colors or architecture.
Expansion of existing business is good. More people downtown is good. We need more people living downtown and walking downtown to support those businesses.
I meant to add we need people to support all businesses in town.
And I think we are on the right track.
Because we have "a swath of ill-fitting, non-New England structures on the West Side" does not mean we should add another. The "Atrium" or "Bird Cage" does not belong next to the Village Green no matter how you try and dress it up. I don't shop at stores with tacky "neon" lights in the windows on the Green and I won't be eating at Tivoli either. My choice is NOT to patronize, market or support businesses that in MY opinion do not enhance this town.
What store has a neon light on the green? So you won't "patronize, market or support" any of the businesses on the west side of the green?
No vacant building contributes to the town. Let's talk about the sewer connection fees as a deterrant to economic development. It's pretty shallow to judge a business by it's exterior...
I'd rather see the atrium when I enter town, than a bleak brick wall of a building and an asphalt parking lot.
Boy, has this whole thing been blown up in to one stupid issue.
You're so right. I think the people of new milford would be much happier if O & G started using the parking lot for storage of gravel and septic sand and Murph's used it to store old tires.
atrium? where is that?
does anyone realize there's a f*****g tank parked across the street in the middle of the green!? a tank....there is a tank on the green. who give's a rat's a** about a "bird cage." THERE'S A TANK ON THE GREEN. WWI WASN'T FOUGHT IN NEW MILFORD LAST TIME I CHECKED. ANYBODY WANT TO TALK ABOUT THE BANK ROBBERY THAT JUST HAPPENED. OR THE KIDS THAT WERE ARRESTED FOR PUTTING MEDICATION IN BROWNIES AND GIVING THEM TO TEACHERS? I THINK SOME PEOPLE NEED TO CHANGE THEIR PRIORITIES
