URGENT UPDATE: Railroad Crossing Work to Commence Tuesday, November 8

Mike Zarba, Director of Public Works, told me a few  moments ago that as a result of telephone conversations he had this morning with representatives from DOT and the Housatonic Railroad, work on the crossing will start on Tuesday, November 8 and end on Thursday, November 10.  He explained that this is due to the DOT's and Housatonic Railroad's heavy workload caused by storm damage.

CERT needs volunteers for the shelter at Sarah Noble.

Contact the health department if you have time or the ability to help.

They have heat and power.

The New Milford Public Works Department has information about the storm clean-up.

Well at least Mayor Ostrich got the trick or treating off on Monday. Every other Mayor was working on the damage causing hardship to their citizens, ours put her head in the sand and pretended everything was fine. I guess it is, up on chapin Rd at least.

4149 = 30% out of power.

8:42- I forgot where the Mayor works as a CL&P linemen in her spare time.

Or she should have used her magic wand to poofy make things all better.

I must have missed Jeff Winter or John Lillis saving the day.

Obviously we don't know who you are that posts this crap about the Mayor. We do know that you don't have a clue about what she did before the storm, during the storm and after the storm.

You can start with the Governor. Call and ask him. Then call any of the big-wigs at CL&P. Then call the Chief of Police and any of the folks at the emergency services. Then call the DPW staff.

Get your head out of your ass, buddy.

I thought we had linemen on staff with the town.
Oh that's only on the high school football team.

Where is the incentive for the CL&P workers to work hard if they are guaranteed a check every friday no matter what their job performance has been? The problem? UNIONS. UNIONS. UNIONS.

How many of you have seen them sitting by the side of the road? Yeah, I know. It's while they've been on breaks. Sure.

I've been without power for far too long and I haven't seen one yellow truck go pat my house yet.

Anonymous said...

Ask public works how many times they've had to wait for a promised cl&p truck to show up. It's like a power trip for these cl&p guys. Bad pun.

And you've been sitting staring out the window 24/7 or did you fail to mention you live on a dead end road.

Can you drive in and out of your road?

If so, why would their be a crew on your street?

If the Mayor is never accountable and it is always someone else fault for poor performance then how does she have the gaul to take credit for everything that goes right. Oh, that's right, she's perfect.

Are you having fun parsing my words and making stupid guesses? You think I'm so ignorant that I'd be complaining if those were the facts?

I live on a hilly road. Not a dead end. Yes, I drove into Town slowly and around all the debris.

Anonymous said...

And, by the way, good grammar! "Their."

Anonymous said...

Almost 50% of the roads in NM are dead end roads.

Anonymous said...

What hilly road? Did you look at the Public Works list of roads?

Anonymous said...

Yes I did and I'm glad that DPW posted that spread sheet. It was very helpful. What has that got to do with anything?

Anonymous said...

So what is wrong on your road?
And if there is nothing wrong with your lines, then it's a transmission or circuit issue(CL&P).

There were lines on my street that were okay and we didn't have power.

CL&P promises they will have New Milford 99% back to power by tonight.

Anonymous said...

That has now changed to SUNDAY night.

I said from the beginning that it was a CL&P problem.

Mayor too busy crocheting to care about townspeople said...

I am confused. I just got power back. Does anyone know why there were town guys all day on the green on Monday? I was taking my kids out for a drive since they were getting antsy and all these town guys were working On the green when our roads uP in merryall were not passable. Before you dummies ignorantly respond these trees were not on any wires at all. My poor elderly neighbors couldn't get out but I guess we have to make sure our green looks Presentable before the roads people actually use?!?! I called Department of public works for an update and hey told me to call mayors office. I called mayors office and they told me to call public works. I felt like a ping pong ball. I am a huge mayor supporter but I will not vote for her on Tuesday. Time and time again she provides excuses instead of answers. It's time for a change. Too bad that other guy didn't stay in.

Town green is maintained by
Parks & Rec Dept not Public Works.
Public works handles the town roads.

No one should remove trees that are in wires unless the line is grounded.

Why didn't you rush over and SAVE your neighbor? Or is that the town's job? Was she hurt? Did she call 911? Did you call 911?
If not, it wasn't an emergency.

10:35 - Are you nuts? Do you mean to tell me the mayor did not make the executive decision to tell Parks & Rec guys. Hey! There happens to be a natural disaster so instead of working on the parks this week you are going to work on opening town roads with public works. Do you mean to tell me she just sat in her office looking out the window and said great work guys keep cleaning up the green even though roads with trees down (which aren't on wires) are unpassable!

12:46 - There were no wires on the trees stupid. Didn't you read my post? I had to go out with my chainsaw and clear the road for her so she could get to her appointment for radiation. Considering I just had a knee replaced I sure could have used some help from the parks and rec guys. Glad to hear they were focusing on the green instead.

I will definitely not be voting for the mayor on tuesday now. This is absurdity!

So in other words, people are capable of helping themselves and you got where you were going?

Whose tree fell in the road?

And in the middle of major region wide emergencies, I prefer to stay home. That's just me.

Anonymous said...

You can definitely not vote for the Mayor, but since you seem up to date the Democrats, New Milford First and the green party are not running competing candidates.

Way to keep up on the issues in your town.

Anonymous said...

Um, you cranks will be pleased to know that Parks and rec is out chipping. I'm sure they'll all be complaining.

Anonymous said...

Yes, Sweetie. The Mayor has no opposition. I'll be she will win re-election even though you won't be voting for her. What do you think?

Anonymous said...

10:25 What question did you ask and who did you speak to at public works and who did you speak to in the mayor's office?

Does any one know where I can get a Murphy for Mayor Lawn sign?
