Breathalyzer For Students And Parents

The BOE is considering the adoption of Rules for the "Use of Alcohol Detection Devices." Here is the draft. The italicized matter is the proposed new language. Note the language in Section 5 that applies to "students and/or their guests"who attend events.

Seems reasonable to me. We've all been to dances where students and their "guests" (dates from other schools, friends, etc) show up intoxicated. This is a good policy.

While "parents" are not mentioned directly, it wouldn't hurt to throw a drunk parent out on his/her butt if they were drunk on school property!

Too bad breathalysers are a complete scam as our rather dim law enforcement and courts are finding out.

Other then that the policy seems reasonable to me. As long as the students have right of refusal

Would that include the former BOF Chairman G McL who attends Town meetings after having numerous southern comfort Manhattan's?

Is that the same person who was so stupified that he tripped over a whole lot of chairs?

Yes, and the same one who fell asleep (passed out) at last nights Town Council/Board of Finance budget meeting.
